October is a critical month for honey bee health in California!

At Beeopic California, we’re currently treating our colonies with Apiguard, a thymol-based treatment, to control Varroa mites before winter.

Unlike colder regions, the San Francisco Bay Area enjoys a Mediterranean climate, allowing our bees to remain active throughout much of the winter.

However, Varroa mites remain a serious threat to colony health, especially as we prepare for the next pollination season.

🌿 Our fall beekeeping priorities:

  • Control Varroa populations using Apiguard.
  • Adjust treatment according to colony strength and outdoor temperatures.
  • Monitor food reserves and colony health.
  • Help our bees enter winter with strong, healthy populations.

Healthy bees in October mean stronger colonies for almond and cherry pollination in spring!
