Thanks to taste receptors, bees can identify different types of sugar and their contents in digested substances. Their developped sense of taste helps them carefully select the plants and flower they forage from. Here are the answers to a few questions on the topic.
Does their sense of taste comes from their mouth like humans?
According to scientific studies based on a system of incentive and punishment, bees’s sense of taste comes from taste receptors on three of their body parts:
 – their antennas
 – their tarsus (pollen brush and claw)
 – their mouths
Do they have the same sense of taste as us?
Other scientific tests have shown that bees can distinguish the same mere tastes as us: sugary, salty, bitterness and acidic. However it differs in their perception and sensitivity. They perceive some substances as non sugary when we, as human, would.
